Vocabulary

1 Unscramble the words to complete the definitions.

1 monument (memonunt) We build this to remember historic events or people.

1 Last year I visited Rome with my class. It's the capital city of Italy and it's beautiful. Here's a photo of the famous Trevi Fountain. I threw some coins in it for good luck!

2 My parents and I visited Makkah last year. It has lots of monuments for tourists to visit. Here's a photo of the hotel Abraj Al Bait. There's a big clock tower in the centre.

3 I'm a backpacker, so I don't carry many things, like guide books. When I arrive in a new place, I go to the tourist information centre to ask about fun things to do.

Associating words

We can associate new words with other words we know, so we learn and remember the new words.

2 capital city: fountain, monument, statue, clock tower
